ASA 103 - BASIC COASTAL CRUISING

“Set sail for more distant horizons”

This intermediate level course gets you out of the harbor.  After completing our three day ASA Coastal Cruising (BCC) course, you will earn ASA Basic Coastal Cruising Certification.  This course will provide you with a more advanced knowledge base, teaching you the essential skills you’ll need to safely command a boat up to a 40ft on your own, during daylight hours and along coastal waters.  

Topics cover preparation, more advanced sail theory, heavy weather sailing maneuvers, crew positions & responsibilities, more advanced mooring/docking/anchoring techniques, basic navigation, boat systems and troubleshooting, emergencies, weather, tides, rules of the road, and much more.  

This course provides 24 hours of instruction aboard a Hunter 33-38.

Only three students per class; the best ratio in the industry.  If a group of friends or  two couples request to enroll together, we will permit a four to one ratio.

ASA 103 - BASIC COASTAL CRUISING CHALLENGE

Have you taken courses at other schools that do not include ASA certification? Do you have US Sailing certification and need to convert to ASA? Have you been sailing for years, but need certification? You can "challenge" ASA 101 and 103 if you are extremely confident in your abilities. This is not a course, it is a skills assessment. You must get a 80% on the ASA exam and 100% on the on-the-water practical. Only challenge if you are very confident in your abilities.
