Book Now

This 4-day LIVEABOARD advanced sailing course provides the skills needed to charter a boat in many of the most popular sailing destinations throughout the world. After successfully completing this course, you will earn ASA Bareboat Chartering Certification. This course will provide you with a more advanced knowledge base, teaching you the essential skills you’ll need to safely command a boat up to 50ft on your own, in daylight, along the coastal waters of New England, the Caribbean, and beyond.

After successfully completing this course, you will qualify for our Charter Club which gives members access to our late model Hunter 36 and Beneteau 46 out of Rhode Island.  You ALSO qualify for SailTime Boston membership, offering access to new, fully loaded Beneteau, Jeanneau, and FP catamarans between 35 and 44 feet in length!

Topics cover preparation, voyage planning, basic first aid afloat, crossing international borders, galley/head systems, advanced sail theory, heavy weather sailing maneuvers, crew positions & responsibilities, advanced mooring/docking/anchoring techniques, navigation, boat systems and troubleshooting, weather, tides, dinghy towing, and much more.

Each course provides up to 80 hours over 4 days in a live-aboard format, aboard a 33-49ft cruising sailboat.

ASAStk300-2 Full Description of ASA 104 Course

Create a course any week June through October with a minimum of two students. Additional courses are added all of the time but you must call us for dates! Classes with only two students will have a three day course (Mon – Wed or Fri – Sun). Classes with three students (capacity) will have a four day course listed above.

Courses with two students will be taught over three days, while courses with three students will be taught over four days.  If a group of friends or two couples request to enroll together, we will permit a four to one ratio due to the longer days we work during this liveaboard course.  Courses taught aboard larger yachts over 40 feet (i.e. our Caribbean courses) may have up to four students being taught over a four – seven day period as well.

$1,699 per person (minimum of two or three to hold class – see above)
plus an ASA textbook (Bareboat Cruising Made Easy) and materials for $39.95

Note: Sales tax on books is required, and a $10 shipping fee will be charged for all book packages.

We are running multiple sailing trips in the Virgin Islands (US, British, or Spanish) aboard our 2008 Beneteau 46 3-cabin this winter that include an optional ASA 103/104 OR just ASA 104 Bareboat Charter certification. ASA 104/114 Catamaran Cruising is also available aboard a 36 – 45ft catamaran.  For full details, visit our Caribbean Bareboat Charter page.
